Plum donuts, that's a gourmet idea! These delicious little wonders will be appreciated by young and old.
- 1 kg of mirabelle plums
- 1 lemon
- About 1 liter of cooking oil
- For the dough:
- 30 cl of milk
- 200 g flour
- 60 g caster sugar
- 2 bags of vanilla sugar
- 3 egg whites
- 1 pinch of salt
Prepare the dough: in a bowl, pour the milk. Add the salt, sugar and flour, then beat the dough well.
Whisk the egg whites into the vanilla sugar and gently mix with the dough.
Wash the mirabelle plums, wipe them, remove the tails and any small leaves, pit them without cutting them completely into 2, then pierce each fruit with a large wooden spike.
Heat the frying bath until it is boiling but not steaming (175 ° C).
Dip plums one by one in the dough, then in hot oil, in batches of about 10 fruits. Remove the wooden spades.
When all donuts are golden brown, remove with a skimmer and drain on paper towels.
Put the donuts on a plate, sprinkle with a few drops of lemon juice and serve hot.
